- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆My experience with Lee Davis Center in Tampa was HORRIBLE!! I stood in line for a very long time and when they finally called my name, they gave me multiple forms to fill out and told me to come back in 3 weeks. What???? I will be evicted and out in the streets in 3 weeks and all my bills will have doubled. I went there with hopes of getting help with my rent. They offered to pay my $68 electric bill; that was it. I told them I needed help with my rent and that I don't need electricity when I am living in the streets. Lee Davis Center is poorly run and they did absolutely NOTHING for me. When Veterans Affairs personnel heard about my ordeal, they came to my aid by offering to pay my upcoming rent and they gave me a $200 grocery voucher being I was out of work for the last 3 weeks. I worked like a dog and paid taxes for 40 years, served my country for 8 years (U.S. Army), and when I ask for public assistance ONE TIME, they treat me like a dog and tell me to come back in 3 weeks. This is TOTALLY unacceptable. Lee Davis Center is a piece of CRAP and I will NEVER ask them for help again in my lifetime -- even if I was homeless and haven't eaten in three weeks.By Johnny Carter, December 10, 2016
